Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar // Night Markets, Star Courts and Desi goodness

GOODREADS // AMAZON // BOOK DEPOSITORY The daughter of a star and a mortal, Sheetal is used to keeping secrets. Pretending to be "normal." But when an accidental flare of her starfire puts her human father in the hospital, Sheetal needs a full star's help to heal him. A star like her mother, who returned to the sky long ago. Sheetal's quest to save her father will take her to a celestial court of shining wonders and dark shadows, where she must take the stage as her family's champion in a competition to decide the next ruling house of the heavens--and win, or risk never returning to Earth at all. This gorgeously imagined YA debut blends shades of Neil Gaiman's Stardust and a breathtaking landscape of Hindu mythology into a radiant contemporary fantasy.   ( A huge thank you to the  HOV Tours  and HarperTeen for the eARC and the opportunity to be a part of this blog tour.  ~When a book sees you~      Yes I am absolutely going to s

Adios 2017 ! Hola 2018 !

I can't believe 2017 is almost over! I'm very very excited for 2018 ❤❤ I have a thing for beginnings :) I also love to look back on the ending and reminisce over all the amazing things of the past year. 2017 has been pretty awesome for both my personal life and my bookish life. So here I present to you my awesome year in books!

Favorite Reads

Holy cow it was so hard narrowing down to just 15 books! I'd say the year has been pretty good for books. I discovered quite a few new authors and started quite a few new series. (Click on the book covers to go to my review.)

*I loved Godsgrave too but as I haven't reviewed it yet, I haven't added it to the list.

Books That Disappointed Me

Sadly it wasn't all a bed of roses! Quite a few books disappointed me to no end.

Favorite Ships

Basically these are ships I'd go down with in any ocean on this planet or any other!

🚢 Ari and Dante - They are both the biggest cinnamon rolls to ever cinnamon roll.
🚢 Kaz and Inej - CAN THEY JUST KISS ALREADY??
🚢 Alina and Nikolai - I don't care what you think but I say Nikolai was better suited for Alina than the Darkling or Mal.
🚢 Yelena and Valek - Slow burn, beautifully built romance of the century.

Bookish Milestones

Me and my Squad girls, Amy and Di started The Blog Squad posts in February and have now successfully completed 31 posts in the feature.

Crossed 100 followers on GFC and Bloglovin.

I was made a rep for Chiqui Creates for the months October-January. She makes the most gorgeous bookish jewelry and you guys have got to check out her shop! She's got everything from Six of Crows earrings to Raven Cycle bookmarks and PJO necklaces!

I made aesthetic Pinterest Boards for all my WIPs. Maybe check em out?

I organized and took part in two Secret Santas this year with my friends on Instagram and IT WAS SO MUCH FUN.

2017 shall be known as the year when Uma started to like contemporary novels!

I met Markus Zusak back in January and this happened.
